We are delighted to announce that Staunton Manor has won the Bath & North East Somerset Building Control Award for Building Quality, the scheme also picked up a Highly Commended for Building Design.

This scheme has been close to our hearts for some time now and so it seemed apt that the award was issued on Valentines Day! We have owned the scheme for some time and planning was protracted due to the complications of being linked to the wider schemes allocated to deliver around 200 new homes. We have found ourselves linked to the politics of a far larger scheme and also needing to comply with the requirements attached to Listed Buildings. Ultimately, the scheme has delivered what we set out to do and provide homes fit for modern day use whilst retaining the charm of the original barns, the meander through the collection of buildings at Staunton Manor has always felt special, the irregular, evolved collection of the original buildings at Staunton Manor have a rustic and individual charm which isn’t replicated in new build schemes. The small community at Staunton Manor is thriving and we are delighted to see that the new owners have fallen in love with Staunton Manor just as we did.

The original buildings represent Whitchurch Village’s history, Staunton Manor Courtyard had been the home to regular fetes and open days to celebrate the good work conducted by the Friends of Bristol Horses Society, and later became the Visitor Centre for Horseworld. We feel as though we have done the local heritage justice now, the buildings will be available to tell their tales to future generations and now provide the backdrop for the future stories and adventures of our new residents.

The Scheme’s success is due to the team ethos at Staunton Manor, including not only our employees but also our favoured local sub contractors and an excellent design team and professional consultants.
